The Experience#
It was a great chance for both of us to practice presenting and working "to camera" - something that doesn't come naturally to most engineers. Lee, who was Senior Engineering Manager for Platform Engineering at the time, and I worked together to showcase how Nine leverages Fastly's MSS offering to handle security at scale.
I think it turned out pretty well, all things considered. These kinds of opportunities are valuable beyond just the final product - they force you to think clearly about what you're doing and why, and to communicate that in a way that makes sense to people outside your immediate team.
Why I Do This#
I'm generally happy to help partners promote products we genuinely use and get value from. Fastly has been a solid partner for Nine over the years, and their MSS offering in particular has been a game-changer for how we approach security at scale. Being able to speak authentically about that made the whole thing much easier.
