How I scaled up my Christmas lights display from a hand-built 1,000-pixel setup to an epic(ish) 4,000+ pixel show.

Commercial Christmas tree options didn't fit what I needed, so I designed a 2m tall LED tree fixture from scratch — 3D printed structural components, aluminium tube, fibreglass rods, and 1,960 individually addressable pixels.

How a simple design problem — attaching LED displays to brick walls without drilling — led me to design and print custom brick clips for the 2025 Christmas lights display.

I needed an iPad stand to hold our device while using some exercise apps that monitor your progress and provide feedback (such as Homecourt for basketball). This design holds the iPad almost vertically at 80° and accommodates larger cases.

My most technically advanced build to date - a fully 3D printed Great Frostblade from Breath of the Wild featuring WLED-controlled addressable LEDs, fiberglass reinforcement, and specialized ice-effect finishing.

A battery operated catdoor opener & closer. It uses ESPHome running on an ESP8266 microcontroller in a 3d printed enclosure, controlled from OpenHAB. Now the cat waits for it to open at 6AM :)
